New Zealand is a founding member of Asia–Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and will be hosting APEC from December. Accordingly, this issue of Policy Quarterly focuses on New Zealand and the Asia–Pacific. The last decade has seen the Asia-Pacific region undergoing new patterns in economic development, driven by major changes in trade, capital and technology flows, together with demographic disruption. A diverse range of contributors to this issue address critical topics in the fields of trade and international relations.
