Open Access Statement
The content in the New Zealand Science Review is open access. Articles are licensed under terms CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0 except where noted. Self-archiving of accepted and/or published articles in a university or other repository by authors is encouraged.
All research articles published in the NZSR are peer-reviewed. Editorial and opinion pieces (such as book reviews) are not peer-reviewed.
There are no publication charges and all articles can be accessed freely without registration via this website (for issues going back to 2009) or archived elsewhere online (for issues from 1942 -1992). The journal officially transitioned to open access in 2023.
We do gratefully accept koha (voluntary page charges) as the journal is entirely volunteer-run. Voluntary donations are used to subsidise archival activities and other journal costs. Please discuss with your handling editor after article acceptance only if you wish to do this.
Please note there is a gap in our back archive of issues from 1992 - 2009. The Editorial Board has a long-term goal of archiving these issues online subject to volunteer time and funding. At the moment they are generally available via Aotearoa New Zealand university libraries. If you need access to a specific single issue or article that has not yet been archived and do not have institutional access, please contact the Editorial Board at editor@scientists.org.nz and we will do our best to help.
Print editions of the NZSR are made available for a per-copy fee at the time of issue finalisation via the website of the New Zealand Association of Scientists, which publishes the NZSR, or via institutional subscription. Queries about print copies can be directed to the Editorial Board.
The ISSN of the NZSR is 2624-277X.
