Abstracts from the HASANZ and HFESNZ conferences will be in the next edition. If you presented an abstract and have not yet sent a copy to the editor please email in the next two weeks.
Email address for the editor: christopher.peace@vuw.ac.nzÂ
International Workers Memorial Day 2027The annual edition to mark International Workers Memorial Day will be published on 28 April 2027. We will welcome submission about workplace fatalities, their consequences and how workplaces had to respond. If you have an idea, feel free to email the editor with an outline.
Risk assessment techniques 2027The July 2027 edition will be a special edition about risk assessment techniques, their design, application and reliability.
Many such techniques have been developed without evidence to show their reliability or validity. Some techniques that have been subject to scrutiny are in ISO/IEC31010 Risk assessment techniques and IEC62740 Root cause analysis. These standards give some guidance on their use.
The recent revision of the INSHPO Framework mentions complex hazard analysis methods (eg, FMEA, HAZOP, fault tree analysis, bow tie analysis) and process and task safety analysis methods (eg, job safety analysis).
Journal updatesIn December 2026 the journal will change to a new platform. Readers may notice little or no changes to the layout of articles but there will be revisions to our website content. Suggestions welcome
