Industrial relations at Motonui an examination of a successful industrial relations strategy on a large construction project

This paper prerents a description of industrial relations on the Motonui methanol plant project. In particular it examines the approach to industrial relations taken by the major contractor Bechtel (Pacific) Corporation Ltd. The paper argues that managerial practice can significantly increase industrial harnony even in industries with a predisposition to conflict. The case of the Motonui project is presented in support of this argument.Downloads
