This article discusses the life and journey of Samuel Rodman Chace in the Southern Ocean, considered to be the pioneer of sealing grounds in Bass Strait, Tasmania, New Zealand. The pivotal role that Chace played in the colony's first export trade and in being responsible for the destruction of the seals is highlighted.Downloads
