Author Biography

Alfredo Martínez Expósito

Alfredo Martínez Expósito is Professor of Hispanic Studies and Head of the School of Languages and Linguistics at the University of Melbourne. He has published extensively on Spanish avant-garde fiction, auteur cinema, and the queer paradigm in literature and film. He is acknowledged as one of the pioneers of the study of Spanish gay and lesbian literature with his books Los Escribas Furiosos (1998) and Gay and Lesbian Writing in the Hispanic World (2000). He has been a visiting professor at the universities of Columbia and Durham. He is an International Referee for the Australian Research Council and member of the Cultural Cooperation Program between Spain and the Australian National University. In 2007 he was elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Humanities.
