Author Biography

Marco A. Pamplona

Marco A. Pamplona is a Professor in the History Department of Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro. He completed his Ph.D at Columbia University. He has been a visiting scholar at universities in Europe and the Americas including Universidad de Chile, Stanford University, Yale University and Università di Roma. His publications include Estado e Nação no Brasil e no Chile ao longo do século XIX (co-edited with Ana Maria Stuven, 2010), Nationalism in the New World (co-edited with Don Doyle 2006), and Riots, Republicanism, and Citizenship (1996). He is co-founder of ARENA – the Association for Research on Ethnicity and Nationalism in the Americas.
