Author Biographies

Joan Metge

Since her retirement from the Anthropology Department, VUW, Joan Metge has continued her work on cross-cultural communication, and is soon to publish New growth from old: the whanau in the mod ern world (Victoria University Press) from which the illustrations - each representing a whakatauki - by Toi te Rito Maihi are taken.

Shane Jones

Shane Jones, of Ngai Takoto in the Far North, is a member of the Treaty of Waitangi Fisheries Commission and a part-time lecturer in Maori Stu dies, at Victoria University of Wellington.
