Author Biography

Richard Hill

Richard Hill is the author of four books on the history of policing and social control in New Zealand. He is currently on leave from his position as Chief Historian at the Office of Treaty Settlements in Wellington, and was resident at the Stout Research Centre when he presented this paper in September 1996. He is now a Visiting Fellow at Clare Hall, Cambridge University.
