With 2015 marking the centenary of Douglas Lilburn’s birth, the Archive of New Zealand Music has undertaken a project to digitise the scores and sound recordings in his collection. Great consideration has been given around the procedure and requirements for digitising the scores. This paper looks at what is involved in digitising these collections: the conservation needs, digitising procedures, and the enhanced description records that are required for the project. It will also look at the decisions made regarding the level of access the created digital files will have.
