Abstract

This article relates the discovery by Wellington City Archives employee Avon MacDonald of service medals and other material from World War One in a box of material from the Union Steam Ship Company (USSCo). It describes the collection and details about the three servicemen involved, all of whom died during the war. It also explains that the documentation associated with the collection enabled the archives staff to learn how USSCo acquired the collection.
