Abstract

This article describes the geographical area the Museum draws from. It mentions the geological collection and a small collection of objects that tells the story of the area. It also argues that it's main asset is a large collection of photographs and archives. There is commentary on the importance of such local repositories, the volunteers who work them, and the value of information held by them, and that if information is not visible through large institutions and databases it can be considered lost.
