Abstract

Presents research on the issues facing school archives and archivists in New Zealand schools, as well as on the topic of community archives. Aims to promote he role and function of the archives in schools, noting that archivists appear to be relatively unrecognized and unsupported.

Author Biography

Eric Boamah

Eric Boamah is a Principal Lecturer in Information and Library Studies at the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand. He was President of ARANZ from 2018-2021, and a Council Member of the then New Zealand Branch of RIMPA from 2017-2021. Eric is a Professional Member of LIANZA, and also a member of the International Review Group of New Zealand. He is a Steering Committee Member of the ICA Section for Archival Education.

Eric holds a Bachelor of Arts in Information Studies and Linguistics from the University of Ghana. He obtained a Joint Master of Arts in Digital Library Learning from a consortium of three European Universities, including Oslo University College, Norway, Tallinn University, Estonia, and Parma University
in Italy. Eric received his PhD in Digital Preservation and Cultural Heritage from Victoria University of Wellington.
