Abstract

This article describes the background and process of moving the Treaty of Waitangi and other historical records to the Public Trust Office in Masterton in 1941 for the duration of World War II.

Author Biography

Mark Pacey

Mark is an archivist at the Wairarapa Archive where he has worked since 2017. He has completed a degree from Massey University with a double major in Defence Studies and History. He has a strong interest in military history and is currently working on his fifth book on a history of the United States Marine Corps and their time spent in Wairarapa during 1943.
